Nepenthes ampullaria is a very distinctive and widespread species of tropical pitcher plant, present in Borneo, the Maluku Islands, New Guinea, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra, and Thiland Deep red traps but with slightly larger traps. It is medium size with pitchers that are typically a deep blood red color all over. The base plant forms a nice dense cluster, keeping it compact and less vining. It has a very wide temperature tolerance and does well in a window. It is quite good at catching many insects, such as: stink bugs, wasps and yellow jackets. It is a fast grower, and a great house plant, that can be grown outdoors in the warm weather. It is suitable for beginners.
