Natural frog mouth pod, size approx. 7-10cm | Jacaranda brasiliana

This natural frog mouth pod is actually the fruit or fruit capsule of the tree known as Jacaranda brasiliana. Fruit mouth pods usually have a whimsical shape and are perfect for decorating terrariums, aquariums and small animal cages. For example, the frog's mouth pod can be integrated as a decorative eye-catcher in aquariums and serve as a hiding place or cave for shrimp, fish and other small animals.

If the exotic decorative pod is to be used in aquariums, it is advisable to place the jacaranda brasiliana in a container with water for a few days beforehand - on the one hand so that the aquarium water does not discolour and on the other hand so that the frog's mouth pod is soaked and sinks. It should also be noted that the pod should not be integrated into aquariums or terrariums in which there are snails with a larger shell, as they could get stuck in the decorative pod. In order to prevent the frog's mouth pod from closing when wet, a small stone or a small piece of wood can be carefully placed in the opening of the pod at the beginning, i.e. until it has fully soaked.
