When misting a terrarium on a regular basis excess water can build up in the terrarium making substrates sodden with ill effects for the terrarium inhabitants and creating an awful anaerobic smell. Simply by providing a drainage layer in the terrarium, you can allow substrates to drain freely and remain fresh & healthy; most terrarium plants also require a free draining substrate for healthy root growth.

Pollywog Terrarium Drainage Balls are lightweight, honey-comb centered, chemically inert and have a neutral pH.
