Aeonium tabuliforme is a succulent plant from the Crassulaceae family. This famous very flat and very wide aeonium is native to the Canary Islands: it often grows there vertically, on volcanic cliffs. Aeonium tabuliforme forms a very flat rosette of leaves only a few cm high, but widening up to 50 cm in diameter. It then appears like a plate, whose pale green, flat, ciliated leaves draw a geometric spiral pattern. The leaves are much thinner than most succulents. The leaf plate widens with age, with a small depression at the central bud. After 2 to 4 years of cultivation, the flat rosette changes: the center of the plant thickens, a sign that the tabuliform aeonium is entering the flowering phase. The plant is monocarpic, it will flower, ensure its offspring through the production of seeds, then die. The flower stalk rises to 50 cm. Very branched, it is covered with small yellow flowers in a star.

Aeonium tabuliforme requires an average temperature of 20 to 30 ° C in summer and remains between 12 and 15 ° C in winter. It is grown in a draining mixture, for example 1/3 non-calcareous sand, 1/3 potting soil and 1/3 non-calcareous garden soil or peat. The plant likes to be watered with fresh water all year round, while still allowing the mixture to almost dry out between waterings. Water should never be in contact with the top of the rosette, as this rosette of tight leaves rots on contact with water.
