An evergreen shrub or small tree to about 5 m tall with leathery, blue green leaves, wonderfully fragrant flowers and red, plum-sized, edible fruits, native to rocky slopes, woodlands and thickets. The fruits can also be fermented into an alcoholic beverage and the seeds roasted and used as a substitute for coffee.
